چکیده

A laser interferometric dilatometer has been developed for measuring linear thermal expansion coefficients of reference materials for thermal expansion in the temperature range 300 to 1300 K. The dilatometer is based on an optical heterodyne interferometer capable of measuring length change with an uncertainty of 0.6 nm. Linear thermal expansion coefficients of silicon were measured in the temperature range 700 to 1100 K. The performance of the present dilatometer was tested by a comparison between the present data and the data measured with the previous version of the present dilatometer and the data recommended by the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA). The present data agree well with the recommended values over all the temperature range measured. On the other hand, the present values at lower temperatures are in poor agreement with the previous experimental data. The combined standard uncertainty in the present value at 900 K is estimated to be 1.1×10 K.

Capacitive-based dilatometer cell constructed of fused quartz for measuring the thermal expansion of solids.

A dilatometer cell that can detect sub angstrom changes in the length of solid specimens in the temperature range 5 K<T<350 K is described. It is constructed entirely from fused quartz (silica). This is a capacitive-based technique, where the spacing between two metallized plates allows detection of changes in length. It is also a relative measurement in the sense that the capacitor plate spaci...

Interferometric measurement of the temperature coefficient of the refractive index dn/dT and the coefficient of thermal expansion of Pr:YLF laser crystals.

We report interferometric measurements of the temperature coefficient of the refractive index (dn/dT) and the coefficient of thermal expansion (α) of a praseodymium-doped yttrium lithium fluoride (Pr:YLF) crystal and of a fused silica reference sample. Our phase-resolved interferometric method yields a large number of data points and thus allows a precise measurement and a good error estimation...

Evaluation of Temperature Rise and Thermal Lesion Dimensions in Liver Laser Interstitial Thermotherapy

Introduction:  Laser  interstitial  thermotherapy  (LITT)  is  an  internal  ablation  therapy  method  consisting of a percutaneous or intraoperative insertion of laser fibers directly into the liver tumor with  maximum diameter of 5 cm. In this treatment method, there isn’t any general information about the  relationship  between  increasing  the  exposure  power,  coagulation  and  carboniza...

A comparative study of magnetostrictive strain in Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5-ingot and Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5-melt spun

In this work, the structural and magnetic properties of ingot and melt-spun Pr3Fe24.75Co2.75Ti1.5 compounds have been investigated. The structural characterization of the compounds, by X-ray powder diffraction, is evidenced for a monoclinic Nd3(Fe,Ti)29-type structure (A2/m space group). A 2-type FOMP have been observed in the magnetic AC susceptibility curves of the ingot and melt-spun compoun...

High-resolution thermal expansion measurements under helium-gas pressure.

We report on the realization of a capacitive dilatometer, designed for high-resolution measurements of length changes of a material for temperatures 1.4 K ≤ T ≤ 300 K and hydrostatic pressure P ≤ 250 MPa. Helium ((4)He) is used as a pressure-transmitting medium, ensuring hydrostatic-pressure conditions. Special emphasis has been given to guarantee, to a good approximation, constant-pressure con...
